Tony Jennings Classic Car Show

Another wonderful day at the Tony Jennings Classic Car Show in memory of a previous Fellowship Chair.
We have been holding this event for 12 years, and as always we had a splendid selection of classic cars from all era’s. Over the years we have got to know a number of the owners and it is always great to welcome them back and enjoy the normal banter and stories.
I would like to thank Brian Spratt (armed with a very welcomed gazebo!), Nancy Rignall, Nigel Barfoot and our ever supportive President Peter Lewis-Jones for helping with the arrangements and getting cars parked up in some form of order! It was also good to see Fellows, Steve Harris, David Cheadle, Paul Jordan (along with his lovely wife Bev), Richard Gray (owner of a lovely Riley Elf which was on display), and Geoff Milnes. Under the Gazebo there was lots of laughter as people told a few funny stories and reminisced. Also a special mention to Fellow Mark Brooks, who has supported the event for many years, and this year brought along 12 cars and members of the Wolston Car Club.
Judging the cars is always subjective, and a difficult task as there are so many potential worthy winners, but after some deliberation the winners were:
CAR OF THE SHOW – 1967 DAIMLER 2.5 V8 OWNED BY TONY MOLLOY
BEST CAR 1900-1960 – 1930 FORD MODEL A OWNED BY NICK KEMBERY
BEST CAR 1961-1999 – 1972 FORD MERCURY 1972 OWNED BY IAN SMITH
Our President, Peter Lewis-Jones presented the cups to the winners and I thanked everyone for coming along to make this another successful and most enjoyable day – the weather also certainly helped! Thanks also to the team at Capital Care Group for their hospitality and allowing us to display the cars within their lovely grounds at Town Thorns.
Here’s looking forward to next year’s event.
