Belvoir Castle

Wow! A BIG shout out to Vice Chair Nancy Rignall for organising today’s packed, informative and truly enjoyable day with Fellows, partners and friends at Belvoir Castle. For over 900 years, Belvoir Castle has stood at the heart of English history located in Leicestershire, the castle sits high above the Vale of Belvoir with spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. (Lincoln Cathedral is visible on a clear day)

The morning took in an air conditioned luxury mini-coach tour of the estate with so much history and insight from head guide Carol, then a delicious sandwich and naughty cakes lunch which set us up nicely for the afternoon with more fascinating history this time with guide Sally as we explored the castle itself. The castle and it contents exceeded our highest expectations and with so much to see it is worthy of further visit – another FMI triumph – those who missed it truly missed out! The visit also benefitted from wonderful weather – well quite hot actually!
