Triumph Motorcycle Experience visit
May 4, 2022
A rather wet Wednesday failed to dampen the enthusiasm of Fellows and guests visiting the Triumph Motorcycle Experience in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
With a superb exhibition of motorcycles old and new and a lot of experimental engineering on display, the Experience must undoubtedly be a thrill to those two-wheel aficionados as well as impressing those of us relying on four wheels.
The tour of the factory, under the guidance of Peter and Danny, was an eye-opener for those of us whose memory of UK motorcycle production focuses on dripping oils and strikes. This is a modern, clean and efficient production facility. Virtually all of today’s Triumph motorcycles are built using their own manufactured components; a guarantee of consistent quality and ultimate performance. Sadly, we were not allowed to photograph any part of the production area; but all of the Fellowship group agreed that the tour was impressive – if a little footsore at one and a half miles of concrete flooring !
Triumph’s press fleet area was particularly noteworthy, with 100 plus bikes corralled awaiting the tender mercies of motor cycling correspondents; there was also a sizeable repair section to remedy the damage inflicted by over-enthusiatic journos !
Bike racing is, of course in Triumph’s DNA and, although there is not a factory team at present, since 2019 Triumph have been supplying their 3-cylinder 765cc engine for the Moto2 bike racing championship.
A fine buffet lunch followed the tour and Triumph Customer Experience Director, Simon Thrussell was on hand to answer questions.
Finally, if you were amongst the Fellows and guests visiting Triumph, the Fellowship would appreciate your feedback on the event. A short survey can be found by clicking on this link.
