Goodwood Revival – Meet & greet

September 12 @ 8:00 am - September 14 @ 5:00 pm

The Goodwood Revival has once again this year turned back the clock to showcase the romance and glamour of motor racing as it used to be. The Revival is the only historic race meeting to be staged entirely in period dress and is a return to the halcyon days of Goodwood as the spiritual home of British motor racing

Fellows and their partners were treated to a spectacular nostalgic weekend. Famous names such as World Champions Jenson Button in his C-Type Jaguar and Jacques Villeneuve in an AC Cobra as well as nine times Le Mans Winner, Tom Christianson made for some wonderful classic racing.

The Revival, however, is not just about spectacular racing. A tribute to Jin Clark included a grid full of sheep in recognition of his time as a sheep farmer. A traditional Circuit Street Party along the grid celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day and a ‘Summer of Love’ celebrated the 1960’s hippie movement not to forget the splendid Settrington Cup for Austin J40 pedal cars that were produced between 1949 – 1966. Together with the glamour of 1940 – 1960 fashion there was plenty for Fellows and their guests to enjoy.

Sudden showers made Fellows, and their guests appreciate the Goodwood Road Racing Club  facilities on Lavant Bank where the enjoyed shelter from the rain and company of other Fellows and their guests, hosted by Fellowship President Peter Lewis-Jones and Past Chair Peter Leake.

The Goodwood revival is like no other motoring event in the world and was summed up nicely by Past FI driver Martin Brundle as like going to an art gallery, except that the art comes past you at 150 MPH!
