Fellowship’s Bursary Award presented at prestigious industry dinner

For several years, the Fellowship of the Motor Industry has sponsored a special Bursary Award for industry apprentices who have successfully overcome numerous personal hurdles during their studies. The Award is made with the assistance of the Institute of the Motor Industry and, this year, was presented at their Annual Dinner and Awards at the Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane.

The 2023 recipient of the Fellowship’s Award was Thomas Morris, a student at Bridgwater & Taunton College, Somerset. Thomas has faced various hurdles in his learning but has identified ways forward and put in place relevant steps to progress through his learning. Thomas is currently working towards his qualifications and is looking forward to going into full-time employment within the automotive industry.

The Fellowship’s Chairman, Peter Leake, was invited to present the Award to Thomas, and is seen here with IMI CEO Steve Nash and compere Nina Hossain of ITN News.

Commenting on the bursary award, Peter Leake said: “It was quite clear that Thomas was a student who took his learning to a new level. Already the winner on the evening of the Full-time Student of the Year Award, Thomas showed to us what set him apart, that being his determination to succeed whatever the personal challenges he faced. We therefore felt that he should receive our annual bursary which will give him the added momentum and support to continue his studies.”

As well as receiving the Fellowship’s Bursary of £2,000 in recognition of his dedication and commitment to his career development. Thomas also received the Full-time Student of the Year Award, sponsored by LKQ Euro Car Parts.
