Tony Jennings Classic Car Show and BEN Fete
August 4 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Once again we held the Tony Jennings Classic Car Show in conjunction with BEN’s Fete in the splendid grounds of their Town Thorns Care Centre. The weather was kind to us, helping to swell the attendance and we had over 50 wonderful classic cars on display. Along with many individual entrants, we were again very well supported by The Wolston Car Club, the local Stag Owners Club, and the Coventry and Warwick MG Owners Club.
Judging is always subjective but proved even more difficult than usual as there were several cars that could have been worthy winners. After a lengthy discussion the winners were as follows:
Best Car in Show: 1972 Jaguar V12 E-Type owned by Jim Ogilvie
Best Car 1900-1960: 1955 Austin Healey 100 owned by Tony Blythe
Best Car 1961- 1999: 1971 Triumph Stag owned by Mark Brooks
We were delighted that Zara Ross, CEO of BEN, kindly agreed to present the prizes to the winners.
My personal thanks go to Fellowship members, Nigel Barfoot (committee member), Brian Spratt, and Rod Ramsay for their help on the day. Rod had a bad start to the day with his own lovely Rover P5B suffering a puncture a few miles from the show, but despite a current injury to his arm he managed to change the wheel and join us – our generation do not give up easy!!
Finally a thank you to BEN, our industry charity, for allowing us to again organise the Classic Car Show in their grounds, and I hope that the Fete raised a good sum for the charity.
